Ubud Waterfall Entrance Fees

We get lots of people contacting us asking what the entrance fees are for various Ubud waterfalls.  Our first answer is, if you go on our Ubud waterfall tour they are all included.  The other answer is that it varies.

First off let’s start with the free Ubud waterfalls.  These will fall into one of two categories:

  1. Hard to get to
  2. Not very impressive

This is because the local people recognize a good thing when they see it.  If a waterfall is easy to get to, that usually means that there is a village nearby that has likely been visiting this waterfall for some time.  Once tourists recognize the attractiveness of the waterfall more and more of them start to come.  The village then sees an opportunity and starts charging.  That’s how it works.

So how much is the entrance fee at most Ubud waterfalls?  Fortunately the answer is, not much!  Usually they ask for 30,000 rupiah.  In return you usually get a well-maintained area that is kept clean and safe.  Many also have bathrooms available.  To me this seems like a win-win.  Tourists get a safe, enjoyable Ubud waterfall experience and the locals get to generate some income from the natural beauty of the area.

But remember, if you would like the all-inclusive Ubud waterfall experience, book a tour with us.  Our tours include:

  • Round trip transportation to and from our three favorite Ubud waterfalls
  • English speaking guides explaining all the cultural significance of what you see
  • Expert photo assistance (we know the best photo spots)
  • Delicious lunch at the waterfall restaurant
